It was a journey to rediscover my roots, but it ended up giving me so much more. Starting from the deep south, near the Sudanese border, I traveled up through Egypt to Alexandria, passing through Cairo. Each stop was a window into a country I had only known as my "land of origin," one I had visited as a child with my parents without ever truly grasping its essence.
Experiencing it as an adult, camera in hand, felt like encountering it for the first time. I was struck by the warmth of the people, their genuineness, and the incredible variety of scenes unfolding before me: vibrant markets, villages along the Nile, vast deserts, and cities teeming with life.
Every shot was an attempt to capture this duality—a country deeply rooted in millennia of history yet full of modern contrasts. Photographing Egypt allowed me to feel closer to a part of myself I had always perceived as distant, transforming a personal journey into a visual story that I hope conveys the beating heart of this remarkable land.
